The Creation of Humans: What God Appointed Us to Do Here on Earth At the Beginning- Before the Fall

You have heard this before, "you are made in the image of God." It's hard to believe God created us this way considering we are prone to sin. It wasn't supposed to be like this though. God intended for humans to live as righteous people alongside Him- to rule the earth with Him.

When God first placed humans on earth He assigned them to work. I know what you are probably thinking, "We were made to work since the beginning?" Yes, but this work came with a purpose. A divine purpose ordained by the Creator Himself.

What is the Purpose of Man on Earth

“Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."' -Genesis 1:26

It took God five days to create order out of chaos. To form the land and sea. To fill it with animals (birds and sea creatures), trees, and plants. Who is to manage it? The sixth day God made the first human. He gave mankind important and meaningful work for this new world. A world untainted and full of potential.

Humanity and Life

As you might already know, God creates Adam out of the ground. Adam means human or humanity. The first of its kind. Then God realized that it is not good for man to be alone. He sees that no land creature is fit as a rightful companion. So Eve comes out from Adam’s rib, his helper. Eve means life.

God tells them, “be fruitful and increase in number fill the earth and subdue it.” They are to overcome the earth with humanity.

God created the Heavens, the earth, light, land, sea, creatures, trees, and plants. He called these things good. When it came to the creation of mankind, it was very good. Out of all things God created humans stand out. Why do you think that is? Well, it is because we are created in His image. That is what makes it very good.

Representatives of the Creator

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” -Genesis 2:15

On the sixth day, God saw a problem. There was “no one to work the ground (Genesis 2:5).” The solution is to create a being. A creature exalted above all the others. He creates man. God wants us to work the land and oversee it. Think of humans as managers of creation– put in charge of the earth.

Humans, made in God’s image, male and female together are made to reflect the creator. Not in the physical sense for God is not human. But we mirror God in justice, love, holiness, and ruling. As of this point in time, humans are perfect and holy beings with the potential to rule over the earth with earthly sovereignty.

The Purpose Continues

It is interesting how humanity and life began. It is not like that now as far as working the ground. But we still have a purpose. While here on this earth there will always be a purpose. Working the land may have a different meaning in this day in age. But reflecting God’s character does not change. Think about that as you remember you are made in God’s image.

Hey there, I'm Brisa- the creator of The Blameless Life. One of the reasons I made this blog site is because I've always looked for a certain type of faith-based blog. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I made that blog myself. God laid it on my heart for some time and it has become a reality. I hope it will encourage you.
